About the NC Collection

Opened in 1975, the North Carolina Collection is a special collection of the Forsyth County Central Library. Our department focuses on local history, genealogy, local travel and culture, biography, literature and folklore, as well as state and local government. Our collection includes a photograph collection, archives, microfilm and microfiche, as well as a map collection. Our collection is a reference collection and available for in room use only.

Archive Collections

The Archive Collections of the Forsyth County Public Library contain a wealth of resources for local history, culture, and genealogy research. Our archives contain records from The Winston-Salem Junior League, the Memorial Industrial School, the Winston-Salem Chapters of the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters. Various genealogy collections donated by local genealogists are also available for genealogcial research.

Photograph Collections

The Photograph Collection of the Forsyth County Public Library consists of five collections of historical photographs. The collections are those of Frank B. Jones, Jim Keith, Bill East, Bill Ray and Coppedge Studios.
